Asia is
a fantastic collection of musicians from other progressive rock supergroups.
Guitarist Steve Howe came from Yes, drummer Carl Palmer came from ELP,
bass player/vocalist John Wetton came from King Crimson and UK, and
keyboard player Geoffrey Downs came from The Buggles via Yes. They have
a clean "classic progressive" sound that blended the best
of the best.
As you can imagine, the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium was not a very large
venue and was my favorite "civic auditorium" to see and shoot
performances. Of course, it didn't hurt that it WAS in Santa Cruz, a
great seaside resort and the Beach Boardwalk, with a huge arcade
featuring lots of classic pinball machines right down the street... ;> Kj
