This was definitely different, seeing Blue Oyster Cult play outside in a college football stadium instead of indoors at night inside an arena. Kinda ruled out the laser show they were (in)famous for in those days. On the tour preceding this one, the band played a big role in the city of Oakland passing an ordinance prohibiting light shows where lasers go anywhere near the audience.
These guys could put out some volume, and outdoors they could crank it up even louder and get away with it. Also playing that day was Cheap Trick, an interesting combination, but it worked for me!  Kj
